New Yorks höchste Aussichtsplattform
Mit einer Höhe von 1776 Fuß ist das One World Trade Center der höchste Wolkenkratzer von New York.
Auf 104 Etagen gibt es dort fast 80.000 Quadratmeter Bürofläche, eine öffentliche Lobby im Erdgeschoss und verschiedene Restaurants. Uns begeistert nicht nur das neue Gebäude, sondern vor allem die Aussicht von den drei Plattformen in den Stockwerken 100 bis 102. Zusammen formen sie das One World Observatory.
Aktuell ist das die höchste Aussichtsplattform in ganz New York. Der Ausblick ist dementsprechend wirklich atemberaubend!
Man kann zwar nicht hinaus ins Freie gehen, aber die bodentiefen Fenster bieten einen sensationellen 360° Ausblick. Dadurch könnt ihr bis nach New Jersey, Brooklyn oder den Central Park schauen. Oder – das fanden wir am spannendsten – fast senkrecht nach unten!
Bis 2009 sollte das neue One World Trade Center übrigens noch Freedom Tower heißen, wurde dann jedoch in One WTC geändert. Die Behörden haben eingewandt, dass der Name Freedom Tower zu emotional sei.
One World Observatory Tickets
Insgesamt habt ihr die Wahl aus drei verschiedenen Tickets für die Aussichtsplattform One World Observatory. Alle Tickets könnt ihr euch bequem zu Hause online reservieren.
- Express-Tickets, mit denen ihr die Ticketschlange umgeht
- “kostenlose” Tickets, weil ihr schon einen der New York Pässe habt
- VIP-Tickets zu besonderen Zeiten & Events
Natürlich könnt ihr auch vor Ort spontan Tickets am Schalter kaufen. Dann müsst ihr allerdings mit teils sehr langen Wartezeiten rechnen.
Was kosten die Tickets für die Aussichtsplattform?
Tickets für das One World Observatory gibt es für Erwachsene ab $35, für Kinder zwischen 6 und 13 Jahren ab $26. Senioren ab 65 Jahren bekommen ebenfalls einen Rabatt und Kinder unter 5 Jahren müssen keinen Eintritt bezahlen. Damit befindet sich das Observatory preislich auf dem Niveau vom Empire State Building.

Einer der Gründe, warum der New York Sightseeingpass zu einem der beliebtesten New York Pässe geworden ist, ist das One World Observatory.
Die Tickets für die Aussichtsplattform sind in diesem Pass nämlich bereits enthalten. Genau aus diesem Grund hatte ich bei meinen drei letzten Besuchen auch den Sightseeing Pass dabei.
Geführte Touren inkl. Eintritt zum One World Observatory
Warum nicht einfach eine Tour buchen, die die besten Attraktionen in Lower Manhattan miteinander verbindet? Es gibt mehrere gute Touren, die wir auch schon selbst gemacht haben. Zwei davon können wir besonders empfehlen.
Ganz beliebt ist das Kombiticket ausOne World Observatory, Freiheitsstatue & Ellis Island: Mit einem Guide startet ihr am Battery Park, um zur Freiheitsstatue und Ellis Island zu fahren. Danach geht’s ganz entspannt zur St. Pauls Chapel und dem 9/11 Memorial. Nach einer spannenden Führung bekommt ihr Tickets für den direkten Zugang zum One World Observatory im One World Trade Center.
Falls ihr statt der Freiheitsstatue lieber auch das 9/11 Memorial Museum ansehen möchtet, gibt es noch ein lohnenswertes Kombiticket mit allen Eintrittspreisen am Ground Zero. Die -1. Etage: Ausstellungen & Welcome-Center
Schon auf dem Weg zu den Fahrstühlen, die euch nach oben bringen, könnt ihr in die Geschichte und den Bau des Wolkenkratzers eintauchen.
Ihr startet in der -1. Etage, weil ihr nach dem Ticketschalter per Rolltreppe oder Fahrstuhl eine Etage nach unten fahrt, bevor es ganz nach oben geht.
Der Fahrstuhl: Gänsehaut auf dem Weg nach oben
Allein die Fahrt mit dem Fahrstuhl bis zum 100. Stockwerk sorgt schon für Gänsehaut!
Ich möchte euch natürlich nicht zu viel vorwegnehmen. Nur so viel sei gesagt: Ihr werdet einen lebhaften Eindruck der Geschichte New Yorks und vom Bau des One World Trade Centers bekommen.

Die 100. Etage: See Forever Theatre – Eintritt mit WOW-Effekt
Die 100. Etage ist die unterste der drei verschiedenen Ebenen mit bodentiefen Panoramafenstern.
Wenn ihr dort die Fahrstühle verlasst und bevor ihr den Ausblick auf Hafen und die Häuserschluchten habt, wird ein Spannungsbogen aufgebaut, der am Ende für ein WOW!!! bei euch sorgen wird.
Aber auch hier will ich nicht zu viel verraten…
Die 101. Etage & 102. Etage: Aussichtsdecks, Restaurant & Café
Das One World Observatory hat leider keinen Ausgang ins Freie, ihr seid also durchgehend hinter den bodentiefen Fenstern.
ABER: Der Ausblick ist trotzdem sagenhaft!
Wir achten immer darauf, das die Glasscheibe keine Fingerabdrücke hat und natürlich der Kamera-Blitz ausgeschaltet ist. Dann steht auch hinter der Glasscheibe dem atemberaubenden Foto aus dem One World Observatory nichts mehr im Wege.
Das One World Observatory bietet oben auch ein eigenes Restaurant, das ich aber nicht wirklich empfehle. Preis und Qualität stehen hier meiner Meinung nach nicht im Verhältnis. Aber einen Drink an der Bar zu bestellen und einen der Plätze am Fenster zu ergattern, ist schon sehr sehr schön!
Meine Insider-Tipps
1. Den Sonnenuntergang über New York erleben
Insgesamt waren wir schon mindestens 9 Mal auf dem One World Trade Center, weil der Blick von hier einmalig ist.
Am besten gefällt es uns auf der Aussichtsplattform während dem Wandel von Tag zu Nacht. Ihr seht dann den Sonnenuntergang und die Reflexionen der letzten Sonnenstrahlen auf dem Hudson River, die Stadt beginnt zu leuchten und ihr erlebt, wie sich die Lichtstimmung über der Stadt verändert.
Einfach nur genial!
2. Mini-Konzerte miterleben
Wenn ihr Glück habt – hatten wir bisher nur 1 Mal – könnt ihr oben kleine Live-Events miterleben.
Ab und zu gibt es Mini-Konzerte auf der Aussichtsplattform!
3. Vom EATALY oder der Rooftop-Bar des W-Downtown den Ausblick genießen
Nehmt euch nach oder vor dem Besuch des One World Observatorys Zeit, um das ganze Areal auf euch wirken zu lassen.
Das geht am besten entweder direkt vom 9/11 Memorial oder im italienischen Food Market EATALY direkt nebenan.
Es ist kein Geheimnis – ich liebe die Rooftop-Bars von New York. Eine besonders schöne Aussicht auf das One World Trade Center bekommt ihr in der Rooftop-Bar vom W Downtown-Hotel!

Die regulären Öffnungszeiten variieren ein wenig nach Jahreszeit:
- 20. Dezember – 7. Januar: 8 – 20 Uhr
- 8. Januar – 28. April: 9 – 21 Uhr
- 1. Mai – 2. September: 8 – 21 Uhr (ihr könnt bis 22 Uhr oben bleiben)
- 3. September – 19. Dezember: 9 – 21 Uhr

Häufige Fragen zum One World Observatory
Kann man die Tickets mehrfach verwenden?
Das geht leider nicht. Wie es bei den meisten Tickets üblich ist, kann das Ticket nur einmal verwendet werden, d.h. ihr könnt nicht das Gebäude verlassen und später wieder hochgehen.
Wann ist der beste Zeitpunkt für die Aussichtsplattform?
Um das meiste aus eurem Besuch herauszuholen, geht ihr am besten ca. 1 bis 1,5 Stunden vor Sonnenuntergang auf die Plattform und nehmt euch 2 Stunden Zeit. Die Zeit vergeht wie im Flug und ihr könnt so einmal den Blick auf New York bei Tag UND bei Nacht genießen!
Kommt 1 Stunde vor Sonnenuntergang!
Um herauszufinden, wann genau der Sonnenuntergang in New York ist, schaut einfach auf dieser Website vorbei. Dort könnt ihr euren Reisemonat aussuchen und bekommt alle Daten. Wir machen das übrigens beim Top of the Rock auch immer so.
Wie früh sollte man am besten vor Ort sein?
Wieviel eher ihr am One World Trade Center sein solltet, ist abhängig davon, welches Ticket ihr gekauft habt.
Beim Priority-Ticket zum Beispiel umgeht ihr die Warteschlangen und spart so Zeit. Diese Tickets sind deshalb auch meine Empfehlung! Mit diesem Ticket reichen 5 – 10 Minuten früher aus. Wenn ihr am Wochenende die Plattform besucht, plant noch 5 Extraminuten ein.
Bei den Tickets, die einen festen Besuchszeitraum beinhalten (Beispiel: Dienstag, 28. August 2015 – 6:00 p.m.) solltet ihr ca. 20–30Minutenvorab am Eingang sein.
Wenn ihr eines der Flex-Tickets habt, seid ihr total flexibel. Denn ihr könnt einfach die Plattform besuchen, wann ihr wollt.
Ist das One World Observatory beim New York Pass dabei?
Nein – das Ticket für das One World Trade Center ist nicht im New York Pass enthalten. Dafür ist es beim Sightseeing Pass NYC und dem New YorkFreeStyle Pass dabei!
Sind Kameras im One World Observatory erlaubt?
Kameras, Kamerataschen und Selfie Sticks dürfen mitgebracht werden. Stative sind aus Sicherheitsgründen aber nicht erlaubt.
Ist das One World Trade Center das höchste Gebäude der Welt?
Mit einer Höhe von symbolischen 1776 Fuß (Jahr der Unabhängigkeit) ist das One World Trade Center das höchste Gebäude der westlichen Hemisphäre, aber nicht der Welt.
Das sind umgerechnet 541 Meter. Es gibt nur wenige Gebäude auf der Welt, die höher sind, darunter der Burj Khalifa mit 829 Metern in den Vereinigten Arabischen Emiraten, der Shanghai Tower (632 Meter) und das Makkah Royal Clock Tower Hotel mit 601 Metern in Saudi-Arabien.

So kommt ihr zum One World Observatory
Der neue große Bahnhof Oculus macht es euch super einfach, zum One World Trade Center zu kommen. In dem futuristisch anmutenden Gebäude findet ihr auch die One World Trade Center Lounge und Einkaufsmöglichkeiten.
Die genaue Adresse lautet 285 Fulton Street. Zum Oculus direkt neben dem One World Trade Center könnt ihr die PATH-Züge und Subway Linien ACERJZ sowie 1234 und 5nehmen.
Ihr das One World Trade Center in Lower Manhattan auch gar nicht verfehlen, schließlich ist es das höchste Gebäude der Stadt!
